Quantitative Easing - How It Works

Quantitative easing is a word that we have grown to love or hate over the past few years as central bankers dropped interest rates to near zero and turned to less conventional forms of monetary policy stimulus to try and counter the deflationary forces and dire economic outlook at the depths of the recession. Indeed, we just saw the BoE, ECB, and FOMC recently implement new measures. As to whether it works or not, or how effective is, is a matter for discussion elsewhere - as for this post, here's a documentary from the Bank of England on how Quantitative Easing works.
